Weirdest Way Ever To Get Rid of A Cough

Last December I got sick. When I get sick it usually lasts for a couple of days and then I'm back to normal, but this time it wouldn't go away! I was suffering for weeks with a cough and congestion. I was doing all the stuff I normally do and it wouldn't budge! Nobody likes a sick doctor and I was trying to pretend I wasn't sick to patients. It's pretty hard to not cough and I wasn't fooling anyone. I was nearing my wits' end.

Then I came across an article about Magic Socks. Magic Socks (apparently) help you get over colds faster. I was game until I read more about it - the magic is that you wet the socks. And then you wear them. While they're wet. I know. Ridiculous. How can wet socks help me feel better? It will only make me colder. What a bunch of baloney. But I was starting to feel desperate so... I tried it.

Let me tell you, I was skeptical. The whole time I was going through the process I was telling myself that this was NOT a good idea. I was just going to get sicker and then what would I do?

But of course, it worked. (Otherwise why would I be writing about it?) The next morning my cough had stopped and my congestion was better. If I hadn't experienced it, I wouldn't have believed it. And i definitely wouldn't tell you, gentle readers, about it.

Here's what you do:

Soak cotton (or thin) socks in cold water. Wring them out and put them on your warm, dry feet (this part is important).

Next put dry wool (or very thick) socks on top of the wet ones.

Then go to sleep.

You'll wake up with dry feet and feeling better.

How it works: It's the body's job to heat up areas that are cold and wet. The increased blood circulation to that area stimulates immune system function and also helps to decrease congestion in the upper body.

I know. It's weird. And I'm only telling you about it because it worked for me. Try it and let me know if it worked for you too!
